Abstract

Across North America, up to half of all PhD candidates reportedly withdraw from their program before completing their thesis.1 Paul Naphtali, MSc, was among the students who moved on, opting to work in the private sector. Over a year into founding his own medical writing business specializing in biotechnology (biotech) writing, he has no regrets. In this article, Naphtali shares his journey from the laboratory to working with biotech clients across the globe. He discusses the challenges he has encountered along the way and the crucial role that networking has played in overcoming them.
