The Key Elements of an Introduction Section of a Research Manuscript

The purpose of the introduction is to evoke interest in the study and give readers the context they need to understand the study. Although this purpose might seem straightforward, medical writers can struggle to structure the introduction and include only the essential information for readers. However, medical writers can craft an effective introduction by structuring the content as a funnel that includes several components about the study: the context and significance, the rationale and relevance, and the study question and overall approach. With these components, and the key elements within them, medical writers can craft an effective introduction section that orients readers to the study and entices them to keep reading.
